Back to school

I am a little late to post a blog about back to school, but as they always say, better late than never! As I am getting ready to go back to school in a week, I thought it would be a great idea to share some of my tips. my experiences and what to expect. This week will mostly be on back to school for University/College and dorm rooms since that is where I will be going back to in the upcoming week. So if you are like me and are going away for school I hope this blog interest you and I can give you some helpful tips!
To start off I would like to talk about ways to pack efficiently. It is definitely not easy putting a years worth of stuff into one car. Plus, you have to think about the space that all the big items are going to take up, such as the fridge. Luckily my fridge was already used, so all I did was clean it out and afterwards I filled it with things; mostly food, all of my utensils and plates. That made it easier to store more things and create more room to pack the car. An even easier thing you can do is rent a fridge for the year through the residence, this way you don't have travel with it and once you're done with it you don't have to keep it. On the topic of food, some awesome products I used during the year was instant oatmeal ( easy to make, all you need is a kettle and bowl/spoon), Another easy to have in your room is soup packages. They are made for the stove put can be made in the microwave or the slow cooker. The differences between the soup 'packages' and the cans is that there is less sodium and they are more filling, I had soup left over for days.
Also, if you did not know this already a kettle is really good to have as well. If you are cheap like me and don't want to spend money on a keurig, a kettle is the way to go. I make oatmeal, instant noodles, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, hard boiled eggs and so much more. Popcorn is also a great thing to have when you're in need of  a snack because you just need the microwave. I used  a bowl with a lid and just put my kernels in there. That way I knew exactly how much salt was being put in there as well as butter, so it was a healthier option.
I got a little side tracked there about food, I should do a blog just on food for your dorm. I did want to share what I did to save space packing. I bought some extra large vacuum seal bags and put all my sheets, pillows, towels and blankets in  one. In another I rolled all my clothes, which then all fit in one suitcase and trust me, I have a lot of clothes! Trust me, this saved so much room because the pillows and the blankets are very bulky so when the air is taken out, it leaves me more room to add more unnecessary things to my pill :)
My blog is getting a little long so I might do a part two focusing more on tips relating more to school and campus life. Lastly, here is a small list of things to bring if you don't have them already: flip flops for the bathrooms, printer, utensils and small bowls and plate, a fan, bins for organization, laundry bag, if you are like me and live on the top floor a laundry bag is a must for carrying up and down, a kettle, reusable water bottles and lastly, some decorations to make the room more you and comfortable because you are going to be there awhile. I could keep going on things you need to I think everyone gets the picture. Living away for school is a great experience and it a big leap of independence. Remember to have fun but also know when to have fun and when to study because that is important to. The whole reason of school is to work, just remember that part too :)
